Stewart College of Languages is pleased to offer a range of programs for those wishing to learn another language or improve their proficiency in a second language.
We aim to provide quality instruction in the language of your choice. Instruction in French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian is readily available. With a little notice, we can usually provide instruction in other languages as well, such as Russian and Korean.

We offer a range of programs to suit all kinds of learners:

If you would like to be sent a brief email regarding forthcoming classes in your chosen language, you are welcome to join our email list. This list is not sold or lent to any third party and is used only for the purpose of providing information regarding the specific languages selected.

Part-time courses in languages other than English are held four times a year. Our foreign language classes focus on developing conversation skills in the chosen language. Grammar is taught as a means to achieving this objective, but the main focus of the class is improving students' speaking and listening skills.

Minimum 5, maximum 12 students in a class. Five students must register at least two weeks prior to the class start date for a particular class to run. Classes may be cancelled or rescheduled after the deadline date, depending on demand. Registering students are encouraged to let us know if an alternate class would also be suitable, in the event that there are not enough students for the preferred class.
- With the exception of complete beginners, levels will be checked after registration prior to class allocation.
- If a class has insufficient enrolment and is cancelled, refunds will be paid in full by the same method of payment within 30 days of the class being cancelled.
- A $10 materials fee is charged for all courses except Beginner/Upper Beginner Spanish. The Spanish Beginner level textbook costs $19.95 + GST. (Optional Audio CDs are available for $19.95 + GST).

Instruction in French, Spanish, Japanese, Italian is readily available. With a little notice, we can usually provide instruction in other languages as well.
Private and semi-private classes have a flexible schedule and are charged according to an hourly rate. Bring your friends to lower the rate!
- All scheduled classes must be paid for at the time of registration. Payment on the day is not permitted.
- Semi private classes (more than one student) must be paid for in one payment. Partial payments by individual members of the class are not permitted. The price given is the per-student price.
- Classes cancelled less than 4 business hours before the scheduled class, will not be rescheduled or refunded.
- Add GST to all fees except those for French language programs.
Classes can be scheduled on weekdays between 9 am - 5 pm, or on Saturdays when the school is already scheduled to be open.

Students entering Grades 1 – 4 early French Immersion in September 2008, will benefit from this one week morning camp. Students will play French language games, read stories, make crafts, prepare a play and sing songs. This is an ideal way to help your child brush up on their French speaking, listening and vocabulary before school starts. At the same time, they’ll make friends, learn a lot about French language and culture, and they’ll gain confidence in speaking French. Spaces are limited, register early!

In this one week afternoon camp, students entering Grades 1 – 4 early French Immersion in September 2008 will explore downtown Victoria in French. Activities include sports and games, a visit to the Petting Zoo, beach walks, visits to the Library, a visit to a grocery store, the Bug Zoo. All activities are facilitated and supervised by our French Immersion instructor to ensure students are exposed to, and encouraged to speak, as much French as possible.

These one week full-time programs are designed to provide students with an intensive boost to their French or Spanish language skills. Classes will be grouped by language and student level and will focus on improving fluency and vocabulary.
